Datalogger A. Purpose: To state desired characteristics for a
datalogger to be used in non air conditioned military vehicles tested
in a desert environment. B. Desired Characteristics: 1. 16 differential
general purpose voltage channels (including +/- 5 Vdc and 0-5 VDC
ranges) with anti-aliasing filtering available, simultaneous sampling
supported, and bridge completion/strain gage capability, 2. 8 isolated
differential thermocouple channels w/linearization and junction
compensation (expandable to x channels) 3. 8 pulse counter inputs 4. 4
4-bit BCD switch inputs and x number of channels of continuous output
(TBD as sensor dependent) 5. 2 RS-232 serial I/O -- one for a serial
display of data at 1-second intervals (serial display is to be sunlight
readable with dimmer controls for nighttime viewing) -- one for GPS
data inputs (min of latitude, longitude, elevation, and direction or
heading) 6. System time that can be synchronized to GPS and/or to IRIG
B (RFrange time ) signals for time stamping of data scans 7. SAE J1939
bus data collection capability 8. Sealed for dust and moisture
protection 9. 24 VDC power in with surge protection (from 24 VDC
automotive systems) 10. 85 C Operating Temperature Range 11. Supports
on-board math and statistical functions, histograms, limit and/or range
comparisons, pseudo channels, etc. 12. Large on-board data collection
capability (non-volatile) 13. Fast data download capability. 14. 10/100
Ethernet data output (for distribution and near real time viewing) and
simultaneous on-board storage of data (the primary storage location)
15. Has or supports an external display (sunlight readable, dimmer
controls, 1/4-VGA resolution and higher) with multi-page formatting of
data for near real time viewing of data. 16. Has a given deterministic
sampling interval between channels and supports the collection of data
at multiple sampling rates. 17. Has a menu driven setup and data
analysis package 18. Software that provides for near real-time viewing
of the data via Ethernet and/or RS-232 19. Shock and Vibration rated
suitable for use in off-road Military Vehicles Posted 07/12/00
