as a Request For Information (RFI)ONLY. No contract shall occur as a
result of this announcement. The Project Manager, Bradley Fighting
Vehicle Systems (PM BFVS) is conducting market research on commercially
available transparent armor (i.e. ballistic glass). PM BFVS is
interested in the present level of technology of transparent armor as
compared to armor now being used on the MLRS vehicle system. The
following requirements give a general indication of the transparent
armor's performance level: (1) small arms and artillery shell fragment
ballistic protection, (2) imbedded heating / defrosting element, (3)
crack / chip / crazing / scratch resistance to the operational
environment (e.g. rocks, cold, humidity), (4) optical compatibility
with night vision goggles, (5) shock / vibration resistance during
vehicle operation. Interested manufactures should supply product
information and any questions to the technical representative by August
