NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a Model MT7208J Noise Calibration System, including a MT 155J Controller and MT155K Cable This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the Noise Calibration System from Maury Microwave Corporation, 8610 Helms Avenue, Cucamonga, CA 91730. Maury Microwave Corporation is being selected for the following reason(s): 1. The requirement is for a microwave calibration system that is suitable for radiometer receiver electronics, which includes hot and cold loads and covers the frequency range from L-Band (1.4 GHZ) to X-Band (13 GHZ). 2. Market research was conducted, and Maury Microwave was found to have a system that meets the calibration system requirements in 1. 3. Maury Microwave purchased a former competitor, and the acquired company's line of calibration sources was discontinued. In conclusion, Maury Microwave Corporation is the only company that produces a microwave calibration system that meets the requirements in 1. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on July 31, 2000. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
