Office of the Secretary, Office of Minority Health through the Program
Support Center, General Acquisition Branch, plan to award a 12 month
sole source Simplified Acquisition to United Tribes Technical College.
The anticipated award date is August 1, 2000. The Contractor shall be
responsible for but not limited to the following: 1. Implement an
associate degree program (with field practicum) in injury prevention
and job placement program for graduates of this program. This project
includes partnering with other federal agencies, tribal organizations,
and tribal Colleges and Universities and a conference to heighten
awareness about and solutions for meeting the needs of American Indian
and Alaska Native communities in the areas of injury and violence
prevention. 2. Coordinate and collaborate with federal, state, and
public agencies to design meaningful 3-week practica for injury
prevention students who have completed their injury prevention course
work. 3. Provide job counseling and placement for graduates of the
program by increasing the number of partnerships between TCUs and AI/AN
communities with HHS and other Federal, State and local government
agencies. This will Also increase awareness of an assistance with the
unintentional injury health proram in AI/AN communities. 4. Encourage
and assist graduating injury prevention students to continue their
education in a four-year degree program. 5. Host a two-day AI/AN
Lifesavers Conference. The goals of the conference are to increase
awareness of the problem, present current prevention efforts to address
specific types of UI/V, and assist Tribes and other AI/AN organizations
to address their particular needs around injury prevention and disease.
The proposed Simplified Acquisition is for services for which the
Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under
authority of far 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest
by responding to the requirement within 10 days after the date of
publication of this notice. A determination by the Government not to
compete this proposed Simplified Acquisition based upon responses to
this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.

of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No
