COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 17,2000 PSA#2643 70 -- POTENTIAL LICENSING OPPORTUNITY Contact: Jeff Cope, National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Technology Applications
Team, Research Triangle Institute, 3040 Cornwallis Rd. RTP, NC 27709;
phone (919-990-8478), fax (919-541-6221), email: jcope@rti.org. The
NASA Marshall Space Flight Center invites consumer software companies
to consider licensing its much sought after Video Image Stabilization
and Registration (VISAR) technology. Originally developed for the FBI
during the 1996 Atlanta Olympics bombing investigation, VISAR will
enable homeowners, law enforcement and others to dramatically enhance
videotape sequences on desktop computers. Hardware companies already
licensing VISAR project nearly $100 million in revenues for
applications in camcorders, moving medical imagers, law enforcement,
and defense-related products. But it is the software market that NASA
expects to have the greatest consumer audience. Information on the
technology and the opportunity is available at the following web site:
http://www.rti.org/technology/to-visar_software.cfm. Companies
interested in licensing this technology should submit a license
application and commercialization plan by September 30, 2000. Five
copies should be sent to: Sammy Nabors Commercialization Project Lead
NASA Marshall Space Flight Center Mail Code: CD30 Huntsville, AL 35812
