The United States Department of Justice, Justice Management Division, Procurement Services Staff, is seeking proposals for the complete renovation of Building 1, an approximately 46,000 square foot, two story facility at the United States Border Patrol Academy in Charleston, SC. Construction work will involve the complete removal and replacement of the interior along with the removal and replacement of existing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, the relocation of one stairwell, and the installation of a hydraulic elevator. This project also requires the removal and replacement of all existing doors, windows, and bars over windows, the removal and replacement of existing roofing, and the cleaning and repair of existing concrete and masonry. In addition, this project requires the complete upgrading of landscaping, site work, site utilities, and parking. Finally, this project will also require hazardous material abatement. This requirement is a total set-aside for small business concerns. The estimated magnitude of this project is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Completion of all work after the Notice to Proceed is estimated at fourteen (14) months. The Request for Proposals (RFP) will be available on or about August 07, 2000 with a due date for receipt of proposals approximately fifty (50) days after issuance of the RFP. The RFP will be distributed solely through the General Service Administration's Electronic Posting System (EPS) web site, http://www.eps.gov. Hard copies of the RFP itself will not be available. However, the Government will provide to potential offerors a copy of the specifications and drawings for this project on CD-ROM. Other attachments to the RFP will be provided to potential offerors in hard copy. A pre-proposal site visit will be held for all interested parties -- a definitive date will be specified in the RFP.
