Sandy Chisholm, Contract Specialist; 973-724-4109 E-MAIL: Click here to
contact the contract specialist via, schishol@pica.army.mil. 10 -- The
U.S. Government is seeking potential sources and performance
capability information for Multi-role Electro Thermal Chemical
Armaments System for Future Combat System Science and Technology
Program. This effort involves the design and development of
Electro-Rheological (ER) Fluid controlled recoil mechanisms,
Magneto-Rheological (MR) Fluid controlled recoil mechanisms and weapon
structural components utilizing isogrid structures. The contractor
will develop technologies that utilize ER fluids to mitigate and manage
the recoiling forces of large caliber weapon systems. Technologies to
be developed/investigated utilizing ER fluids include soft-recoil
mechanisms and active recoil control in conventional recoil mechanisms.
In addition, the contractor will investigate the use of MR fluids to
control the recoiling mass. The contractor will conduct a comparative
analysis of the benefits and disadvantages of MR and ER fluids. The
contractor will design and develop an armament turret assembly
utilizing isogrid structures. The isogrid structures will provide the
strength and stiffness required to support a large caliber armament
system while minimizing the overall turret assembly weight. The
contractor will design the turret assembly to interface a wheeled
vehicle chassis. In addition, the contractor will compare and contrast
Isogrid structures to other structural technologies and investigate
alternative materials for use with isogrids. This market survey is for
informational purposes only, does not constitute a request for
proposals and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government.
Interested firms are requested to provide, at no cost to the
Government, a summary of their firm's capabilities to satisfy the above
requirements within two weeks of the date of this notice, preferably by
electronic mail (email). In addition, please provide company name,
address, point of contact with telephone number and email address, size
of business (small/large) and country represented. See Note 25.
Respondents to this notice will not be notified as to the receipt or
assessment of the information provided. Request all responses be sent
