and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Severe Storms Lab
(NSSL) 1313 Halley Circle, Norman, OK 73069 requires a RAID system with
the following minimum requirements: Fibre-fibre RAID controllers; a)
Mylex SANArray FFx dual- active redundant RAID controllers, or
functional equivalent, b) Sustained RAID 5 transfers of at least 180
MB/s for reads and writes, c)128MB cache RAM per controller, d) Each
controller has one fibre host channel, two fibre channels for drives,
e) Online RAID expansion, f) Global hot spare support, g) Automatic
drive/controller failure detection and RAID set rebuilds, h)
Transparent failover and i) Must include in-band GUI management
software, compatible with Solaris 7. Drives shall include: a) Twenty
(20) hot-swappable Fibre Channel drives, 73GB, 10K RPM b) Seagate or
equivalent c) Larger quantity of smaller capacity drives is acceptable,
so long as the total system capacity is comparable. RAID
Controller/Drive Enclosure; a) UL/FCC approval for office environment,
b) Include all hardware for rack mounting, c) Redundant, Hot-
Swappable power supplies, d) Redundant, Hot-Swappable cooling fans, e)
Must have space for above RAID controllers and hot-swappable drives.
Fibre Channel Host = Bus Adapter; a) Drivers and technical support for
Solaris 7, b) PCI Bus to Fibre, c) 64 bit, 66 MHz PCI card d) Must be
compatible with Sun Enterprise 250 running Solaris 7. The system =
should also include all necessary cables, including a ten (10) meter or
longer cable to connect the RAID controller to the host bus adapter.
The system should be fully integrated. It is an absolute requirement
that the RAID system be operational with the host, a Sun Enterprise 250
running Solaris 7. Every component of the system must be covered by a
warranty of not less that three (3) years, either from the
drive/controller manufacturer, or the system integrator. Delivery is
required within 6 weeks after receipt of order. Technical questions can

these are the only specifications. The award decision will be based
upon the best value to the Government, with technical merit as well as
price being considered. Bid are due by close of business August 14,
2000. This announcement/solicitation is being issued under the
Simplified Acquisition Procedures, FAR Part 13. Estimated government
