COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 18,2000 PSA#2644 FIXED AIRCREW SEAT STANDARDIZATION SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS Fixed
Aircrew Seat Standardization Sources Sought Synopsis The purpose of
this Sources Sought Synopsis (SSS) is to determine the feasibility of
a standardized fixed aircrew seat across multiple USAF cargo aircraft
platforms. The goal is to identify one basic seat with slight
modifications to meet different aircrew positions and different
aircraft models or series. The aircraft to be included are C-5, C-135,
C-130, C- 141 and E-3. The baseline seat and all modifications must
meet 16-G static and dynamic load requirements. Seats shall be
subjected to the minimum 16-G military static load tests using a 250-LB
occupant. The seats shall withstand this minimum loading or a duration
of 60 seconds without failure. Following successful static load
testing, the contractor shall subject the seat to dynamic tests IAW SAE
AS 8049 Figure 6 using a 250-LB occupant. Should standardization appear
feasible, a follow-on request for proposal (RFP) may or may not be
issued. Currently, no funding is available for this initiative.
Accordingly, be advised that this is not a RFP and this SSS in no way
obligates the government to award a contract. The government will not
compensate any interested party, firm or individual that may respond to
this SSS. Formal responses to this SSS should be limited to two, 8 x 11
typed pages and should detail the experience and capabilities of your
firm to perform the task outlined above. All responses should be by
e-mail and sent to norma.kreutzkamp@brooks.af.mil . Point of contact is
