70 -- 15 MB TAPE DRIVE SOL NMA30100R0258 DUE 080300 POC Contract Specialist Michael Levy, Contract Officer Rachel Glaros, 301-227-1944 The National Imagery and Mapping Agency intends to award a sole source procurement to the Ampex Data Systems Corporation for one Ampex DST 312, double density 15 MB tape drive with cable, parts kit, cartridge, cleaning kit, rack mount kit, Sun Solaris 2.5/2.5.1/2.6/2.7, installation/checkout service, preventative maintenance training, DST 312 contract service and Head Rider. The unit will be used for data acquisition, unattended backup and restore, disaster recovery, storing video and images and data interchange and must be able to read D2C tapes. The unit is required for compatibility purposes since it is currently part of the NIMA baseline for all NIMA Production Cells (NPC's) and NIMA Prototyping Facilities (NPF's). The unit must also allow connectivity to the collateral systems in the NPF's and NPC's. This is a synopsis of intent to award a firm fixed price contract under FAR Part 12-Commercial Items. The authority for sole source procurement is FAR 6.302-1.
