NASA/GSFC plans to issue a draft RFP for LASP support via the internet, on or about 15 days after publication of this notice in the Commerce Business Daily. This requirement encompasses support of solar and space plasma physics, astrophysics, and astronomy. This support is primarily in the areas of computer systems and related services, including operating systems, security, and applications software; development and use of scientific and engineering data analysis systems; and, engineering efforts that develop new technology for astrophysical instrumentation. This document is for information and planning purposes and to allow industry the opportunity to verify reasonableness and feasibility of the requirement, as well as promote competition. Prospective offerors are invited to sumbit comments or questions to: Ms. Mary V. Stevens, Code 216. A response time and method for submitting comments or questions will be published concurrent with release of the draft RFP. This solicitation/synopsis is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for the information solicited.
