synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with
the format FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional
information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the
only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written
solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation No. 00SQ170762 is issued
as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) and incorporates provisions in effect
through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-16. This acquisition is a Small
Business set-aside. The size standard is 750 employees and the standard
industrial classification code is 3567. U. S. Bureau of Reclamation,
Grand Coulee, Washington has a fixed price requirement for the
following items: CLIN 0001 -Furnace, oven box, high temperature up to
2,200 degrees F, miniumum chamber size 24" H x 36" W x 42" L, minimum
overall size 76" H x 82" W x 78" L, 65 Kw, 460 volts, 3 phase. Shell to
be a continuously welded 3/16" plate steel and heavy structural steel
members, front frame to be a minimum of 1/2" thick to preclude thermal
warpage. The wall and roof insulation should be of layered ceramic
fiber blanket with a low thermal mass. The door should use edgestacked
fiber insulation to prevent lamination failure. Floor and entrance
vestibule sides should be insulating firebrick. The blanket insulation
should be a minimum of 9" thick and the resultant shell temperature
should be less than 120 degrees f above ambient. The hearth to be of
silicon carbide flat plates 1-1/2" thick. The door to be pneumatic
power operated and of such weight to be lifted with 1 hand. A safety
switch is required to shut the power off when the door is opened. The
heating elements to be iron/chrome/aluminum alloy resistance wire
supported in a hard refractory plate. Elements to be suspended on the
side walls and placed under the hearth. Power density to be less than
15 watts per square inch and ceramic holders to keep elements away from
side wall insualtion. The power controls to be magnetic contactor with
voltage reducing power transformer, mounted below the furnace. A
second magnetic contactor to operate a high limit controller as a
safety backup, Thermcraft Model No. BHAF-243642-1093, or equal. -- 1
each. The items must be delivered to U. S. Bureau of Reclamation,
Warehouse B -- Door 6 -- Industrial Area, Grand Coulee WA 99133 by
September 15, 2000. The following FAR provisions and clauses apply to
this acquisition: 52.212-1 Instructions to Offerors -- Commercial Items
(MAR 2000), 52.212-3 Offeror Representations and Certifications --
Commercial Items (FEB 2000), 52.212-4 Contract Terms and Conditions --
Commercial Items (MAY 1999), 52.212-5 Contract Terms and Conditions
Required to Implement Statutes or Executive Orders -- Commercial Items
(FEB 2000) and 52.247-34 F.O.B. Destination (NOV 1991). Clause
52.212-5, paragraph (b) is tailored to incorporate the following
clauses by reference: 52.203-6, 52.219-8, 52.222-26, 52.222-35,
52.222-36, 52.222-37, 52.225-1. The Government intends to make a single
award to the responsible bidder whose bid is most advantageous to the
Government, based on items meeting the specification, price and
price-related factors, and delivery schedule considered in descending
order of importance as listed here. The closing date for receipt of
offers is August 2, 2000. Offers are to be mailed to the following

Request for Quotation shall do so in writing. All sources responding to
this Request for Quotation shall submit information relating to

sources may submit a bid, which will be considered by this agency.
