301-594-8855 The National institutes of Health (NIH), National
Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has a
requirement to purchase a CryoProbe accessory for an AVANCE 500 NMR
Spectrometer from Bruker Instruments Incorporated, Manning Park, 44
Manning Road, Billerica, Massachusetts 01821-3991. The specifications
shall be included in the following systems: 1) CryoProbe ultra-high
sensitivity NMR probe includes: Triple Resonance Inverse Detection 500
MHz CryoProbe for 1H observation with 15N and 13C decoupling (5 mm
sample diameter), 2H lock channel, Z-gradient coil for use with GRASP
III accessory, and standard CryoCoupler ; 2) Closed-loop CryoPlatform
cooling system: Cooling CryoProbe(s), including helium refrigeration
unit, vacuum dewar, control module, standard CryoCoupler for connecting
to the CryoProbe family of ultra-high sensitivity probes. Exchange of
Pre-amplifier stack for CryoProbe -compatible HPPR, including preamps
for 1H/2H/13C/15N/XBB, CryoProbe Filters, and Cables. Annual
maintenance required to keep CryoPlatform operational. This includes,
replacement of consumable parts in the CryoCooling Unit and Helium
Compressor. Two days labor to prepare magnet (includes rigging). The
CryoProbe cannot be installed on a magnet in a pit. The Cryoprobe must
be compatible with the existing DMX500 Bruker spectrometer. The
Institute intends to purchase this equipment by other than full and
open competition from Bruker Instruments, Incorporated. To the best of
the Governments knowledge they are the sole manufacturer and
distributor of this equipment. Interested vendors may identify in
writing their interest with a capability statement to the Contracting
Office prior to the closing date of this notice. This notice of intent
is not a request for competitive proposals, however, all responses
received before the closing date of this announcement will be
considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to
compete this proposed acquisition is based upon responses to this
notice and is solely within the discretion of the Government.
Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of
determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. This notice
is for the purchase of commercial equipment within the Simplified
Acquisition Threshold of up to $5 million dollars. It is anticipated
that Request for Quotation (RFQ) NIH-NIDDK-00-568 will be available
fifteen (15) days after the publication date of this synopsis. Receipt
of quotations will be due ten days (10) after the release of the RFQ.
The anticipated award date is August 17, 2000. Request for copies of
the RFQ must be in writing and may be FAXED to 301-480-4226. Quotations
