Pittman, DRPM-AAA, (703) 492-3363 or Paul Vroegindewey, General Dynamics Amphibious Sytems, (703) 492-3254 This is a Request for Information for a Standard Generalized Markup Language SGML) Authoring System and Browser Capability. This market survey is being made on behalf of General Dynamics Amphibious Systems who is surveying industry to determine the current capability of technologies and products to author, store, manage and display electronic technical information. This capability is envisioned to support development, configuration management and presentation of Operator and Maintenance procedural data to support the United States Marine Corps (USMC) Advanced Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAAV). The AAAV is an armored, tracked, amphibious personnel carrier that transports eighteen combat equipped Marine infantry (a reinforced rifle squad) from Navy amphibious assault ships positioned up to 25 miles off shore to inland objectives. Once on land, the vehicle continues to support the infantry as a mobility asset and direct fire support platform. The AAAV program is entering the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase before producing and supporting approximately 1000 vehicles for a thirty-year life cycle. During the EMD phase (early 2001), General Dynamics expects to establish an authoring environment that fully integrates program database sources, such as logistics, configuration management and computer-aided design (CAD) into the authoring environment. Database integration expertise as well as authoring and browsing tools and the corresponding training support will be required to accomplish this task. Interested parties are invited to provide information concerning their capabilities by responding to one or both of the questionnaires located at the AAAV web site: www.aaav.usmc.mil/log/cbd.html.
