R -- LIBRARY/MUSEUM SERVICES -- POTENTIAL SOURCES SOUGHT DUE 081500 POC CHRISTINE MENDES, (808) 438-6535 x201 IAW with a Commercial Activities Proposed Action Summary announced to Congress on 17 Jul 98, the U.S. Army is conducting a review IAW the Office of Management and Budget Circular No. A-76 entitled "Performance of Commercial Activities," for performance of the Directorate of Community Activities Library Services at the US Army Garrison Hawaii located on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. The library facilities are geographically dispersed between Schofield Barracks, Fort Shafter, Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC), and Aliamanu Military Reservation (AMR). Library function also includes the operation of 2 museums. One located at Fort DeRussy in Honolulu, which is open 7 days a week from 1000 to 1615, closed on Christmas and New Years Day and the Tropic Lightning Museum which operates the same hours as the Fort DeRussy Museum, Monday through Friday, closed weekends and holidays. Services are currently being performed by Government employees. The US Army Garrison, Hawaii Library system provides the total Army community the opportunity to enhance readiness and quality of life through effective, professionally directed Library services offering mission and training information, academic support for education programs, and morale, welfare, and recreation programs in accordance with AR 215-1, Management and Operation of Army Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Programs and Non-appropriated Instrumentalities, dated 25 Oct 98, chapter 8, section II, paragraph 8-16; and AR 25-1, The Army Information Resources Management Program, chapter 10. The Sgt Yano Library, is the main Library and Command Reference Center (CRC), is located in bldg 560, Schofield Barracks. The hours of operation are: Monday through Thursday, 1100 to 2000; Friday through Sunday, 1000 to 1800; closed holidays. The Fort Shafter Library is located in bldg 650 and its hours of operation are: Monday through Thursday, 1100 to 1900; Friday and Sunday, 1100 to 1500; closed Saturdays and holidays. The Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) Library is located on the firstfloor of A-wing and its hours of operation are: Monday through Friday 0900 to 1700; Saturday, 1100 to 1500; closed Sunday and holidays. The Aliamanu Military Reservation (AMR) Library is located in bldg 1782 and its hours of operation are: Tuesday through Thursday, 1200 to 1900; Friday, 1200 to 1800; Saturday, 1200 to 1700; closed Sunday, Monday and holidays. The museums operate under the provision of AR 870-20, Army Museums, Historical Artifacts and Art. They collect, preserve, exhibit, and interpret the artifacts and memorabilia that reflect the history of the Army in Hawaii and the Pacific, the history of the 25th Infantry Division, Hawaii's Military History and the role Hawaii has played in the nation's defense. They also provide historical education, training, morale and recreation services to the military and civilian community. The purpose of this notice is to identify and establish initial interest from the vendor community.
