The Department of the Army, TACOM-ARDEC at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ intends to procure technical services for Project Manager for Mines, Countermines and Demolitions (PM-MCD) to eliminate primary explosives from the in-line initiation (fuzing) of the Modular Crowd Control Munition (MCCM). The elimination of the primary explosives from the initiating elements of the MCCM will allow the user to "pre-prime" the MCCM providing for quicker response and more flexibility in carrying out the mission. The contractor must demonstrate initiation reliability of the Chemical Safe and Arming (S&A)(which has been developed) by both an EBW (Explosive Bridgewire -- which is a type of initiator which does not utilize primary explosives)and a shock tube. The demonstration shall consist of thirty shots each at -25 and 1145 amp. Temp fifteen (15)using EBW and 15 using the shock tube. The output of the S&A shall cause the MCCM to detonate high order. The contractor shall provide data, documentation and develop the interfaces to MCCM and provide the interface hardware and Safe and Arm's necessary to conduct ten (10) system tests. The contractor shall support two (2) meetings at their plant and have the on-site liaison in attendance. The period of performance will be for six months.
