S -- WATER UTILITY SERVICE FOR THE FEDERAL CORRECTIONAL COMPLEX SOL RFPX00-409 DUE 082400 POC Verna D. Teat, Cotracting Officer, (202) 307-0954 The Federal Bureau of Prisons has a future requirement for water service at a proposed Federal Correctional Complex located on the Durham-Granville County line approximately one mile northwest of Butner, North Carolina. The facility will include housing to accommodate approximately 3,000 inmates, warehouse space, and other generic institutional elements. The water utility service is presently estimated to be required by June 1, 2003 for testing purposes. Permanent water service (fire and domestic) is required by January 1, 2004. The contractor shall provide the facility with an estimated 220 million gallons of water on an annual basis, with an estimated 600,000 gallons average daily usage. Water shall be delivered to the point(s) of connection with a pressure range of 75 psi -- 95 psi at a flow of 3000 gpm. Fire flow must be available for a minimum duration of 90 minutes at 2,500 gpm. The estimates provided are for the contractor's benefit and are not a guarantee of revenue or usage. The actual pressure and flow requirements will be determined in the future, based on the design of the facility and will be clarified at later date. The Contractor shall deliver the required fire and domestic water service to the facility through a water meter(s) at the point of connection(s). Contractor is responsible for installing meter(s) to record the quantity of all water consumed by the facility, and for monitoring and calibrating the accuracy of the metering equipment.
