Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS/BPH) has
a requirement for the production of recorded cassette abstruse books.
Abstruse books are classified as including multiple foreign languages,
less familiar languages, complicated technical material, material
requiring illustration, or other difficult text requiring extensive
research or difficult formatting. Production and packaging of audio
materials in accordance with NLS/BPH specifications include the
narration, recording, duplicating on cassette, packaging and
distribution on audio cassette for 15/16 ips playback in four-track
monaural mode. Distribution is to regional libraries and multistate
centers for loan to individual patrons. Awards based on best value for
each category may be made in approx. October for FY 2001 requirements.
