The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to issue a sole source purchase order under Simplified Acquisition procedures to The Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF), 2212 Sixth St, Berkeley California 94710, to complete work, begun under SSA purchase order 0440-99-38644, to finalize an agenda for a three-day conference to be held in late October 2000 on international disability law, secure speakers and coordinate with a logistics contractor travel/hotel arrangements for expert panelists and participants, secure participation of representatives from other Federal agencies, national and international legal groups, legal scholars, policy experts, civil rights leaders and other national groups, finalize subcontracts with authors for papers, pursue development of a legal treatise relating to the conference, develop applications and materials for the conference, establish a conference website, provide monthly updates on conference status, and provide a final report after all tasks are completed. This is an announcement of SSA_s intent to issue an order to DREDF for the tasks outlined above; SSA will not issue a solicitation. SSA will not respond to requests for solicitation copies and will not pay for information received in response to this announcement. Responses must provide sufficient information for SSA to determine that an organization other than DREDF can perform the tasks described above. If SSA does not receive an acceptable response to this announcement within 3 days of its publication, it will issue a purchase order to DREDF to perform the tasks.
