The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Strike Aircraft Test Squadron, Patuxent River, MD intends to solicit and negotiate a sole source contract with McDonnell Douglas Corporation (MDC), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Boeing Company, under the authority of FAR 6.302, only one responsible source and no other goods or services will meet the agency's needs. The services required are engineering, maintenance, limited part manufacturing, and pilot support services for the flight test programs of the F/A-18 aircraft. MDC is the sole designer, manufacturer, and provider of the F/A-18 aircraft. In addition, MDC holds various proprietary information necessary to perform the required services. The period of performance shall be for one base year and four option years. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement by submitting capability statements no later than 20 July 2000.
