The Coast Guard proposes to install the "Lifejacket" system by Alltrista, a proprietary galvanic corrosion protection system, on the existing piles as part of the pier repairs. This system uses a sacrificial anode made of zinc, which with electrolyzed concrete, creates a circuit-inducing currents which polarizes the interior reinforcing steel. It is self-powered, self-regulating, easily installed, and maintenance free. The estimated price range of the complete project is between $500,000.00 and $1,000,000.00.
