(i) This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This synopsis/solicitation shall be awarded as a Firm Fixed Price contract upon evaluation of the best value to the Government. (ii) Solicitation M00263-00-T-0009 is being issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for Direct Buried Copper Cable and Multi-mode Fiber Cable. (iii) The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-18. (iv) This acquisition is 100% Small Business Set Aside. The associated industrial classification code (SIC) is 3357. (v) The following is the Contract Line Item Numbers (CLINs), descriptions, quantities, and units: All pricing shall be shall be firm-fixed price. All shipping cost shall be included within the cost of the item ordered. CLIN 0001,600-Pair Copper Direct Buried, 24 AWG, Commercial Specification #PE-89, filled telephone cable for direct earth burial. The conductor shall be constructed of solid, soft drawn, annealed bare copper and be insulated with an inner layer of Polyethylene or Polypropylene expanded 50% by volume, plus a 0.002" thick outer layer wall of color-coded solid Polyethylene or Polypropylene. The core assembly shall have insulated conductor and contain 24 sub-pairs. The shielding shall be for direct earth burial requiring a corrosion/oxidation resistant, blue tinted ethylene copolymer coated on both sides 0.008" (0.203mm) thick corrugated aluminum tape shield applied longitudinally with a 100% overlap. The outer jacket shall be a black low density high molecular weight virgin polyethylene. The outer jacket shall have footage markings printed sequentially every (2) two feet. CLIN 0004, 24-Count, Multi-mode, Loose Tube, Direct Buried Fiber Cable, 62.5/125 um (1-micron-one millionth of a meter) multi-mode outside plant loose tube cables are suitable for direct burial, underground duct and aerial installations.
