The Portable Lightning Detection Systems must include the following features and characteristics to be considered technically acceptable: Be deployable/portable in a one-person lift capacity (i.e., should weigh no more than 15 pounds); be able to display direction (360 degree view of surrounding area) and distance of lightning strikes to a distance of at least 100 nautical miles; have selectable operation ranges; have an audible alarm capability; operate on 110-120 volt alternating current, 220-240 volt alternating current, and direct current; be capable of displaying lightning strike data over time; have a capability to read the display in day or nighttime operations; have a rate counter to show rate of discharge activity; be able to operate in a temperature range between 32 degrees to 120 degrees Farenheit; have a warranty for parts and service of at least two (2) years from purchase date.
