(DRI) Reno, Nevada for survey of the Mojave Fringe-Toed Lizard (Uma Scoparia) a Federal "species of special concern". Line item 0001: Study Area will take place at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC), Twentynine Palms, Ca. Located in south central San Bernardino County, California, immediately north of the city of Twentynine Palms. Field survey areas will include (but not limited to) the following MCAGCC Range/Training Areas (RTAs): Acorn, Gypsum Ridge, Lavic Lake, Lead Mountain, Quackenbush and West. Additional areas may be included as appropriate based upon preliminary fieldwork or subsequent computer analysis of data. Fieldwork to commence upon contract award (projected for mid-August/September 2000) for a period not to exceed 24 months or upon completion of the survey whichever comes first. The Desert Research Institute (DRI) is the only organization qualified to conduct the research outlined in the Scope of Work for Mojave Fringe-Toed Lizard (Uma scoparia) surveys at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, CA and its surrounding lands. DRI possesses a unique combination of scientific expertise, technical support, and analytical capabilities. DRI has a 40-year history of research excellence with an internationally recognized team of scientists. No solicitation document exists and no telephone inquiries will be accepted. No contract award will be made on the basis of offers received in response to this notice. Interested parties shall furnish detailed data concerning their capabilities to provide the services sought including pricing data and technical data sufficient enough to determine that a comparable source to the government is available to the Contracting Officer NLT 31 July 2000, otherwise an order will be placed with the above named contractor.
