Services for the Midcontinent Ecological Science Center (MESC), Ft.
Collins, Colorado, the Columbia Environmental Research Center (CERC),
Columbia, Missouri and the Northern Rocky Mountain Science Center
(NRMSC), Bozeman, Montana. The Centers are research and development
facilities for biological research, inventory and monitoring, and
information transfer programs managed under the U.S. Geological Survey,
Central Region. Currently there are twelve (12) field stations
supported by the Science/Research Centers. Technical support services
are required to support the activities being conducted by the Centers
to accomplish USGS and Department of Interior program goals. Services
include, but are not limited to, the acquisition, collection,
processing, and analysis of field-gathered and remotely-sensed data;
the inventorying and monitoring of biotic resources; principal
investigator duties for biologic, hydrologic, physical science research
projects (e.g. null hypothesis testing, model development, etc.);
information management, such as graphics and illustration, publication
preparation, technical writing and editing, curriculum design, surveys
of the public (Government and non-Government personnel) and library
services; the development, testing, and transfer of methods and models;
the application of new and emerging technologies to resource management
issues; manual and digital map production; the creation of spatial
(geographically-referenced) and non-spatial, digital data bases; the
merger or conversion of digital data; the integration of
remotely-sensed data (photographic and digital) into digital data
bases; user support, training, and technical assistance in GIS, global
positioning systems (GPS), and image processing technologies; and the
installation, management, and maintenance of computer hardware and
software systems. Period of Performance is estimated to be January 1,
2001 through December 31, 2001 with four (4) one year options. Written
