The U.S. Army Tank-automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) Fuel & Lubricants Technology Team (FLLT) is seeking data about hydraulic fluids with better flammability characteristics than the products currently provided under the specifications listed below. We are conducting market research to determine whether improved products exist. If they do, we may pursue upgrading the specifications and revising the associated Qualified Products Lists (QPLs). We aren't planning to buy hydraulic fluid at this time, however, the Defense Supply Center Richmond (DSCR) uses the QPLs to acquire hydraulic fluid for the Government MIL-PRF-6083F. The goal is to find products that exceed the current specification's flammability characteristics by 100% and have a flash minimum of 150 degrees centigrade while meeting the rest of the properties referenced in the specification at paragraph 3.4. Products may use petroleum or synthetic hydrocarbon base stocks but shall contain no barium or viscosity index improver MIL-H-46170B(2). The goal is to find products with a flash point increase of 150 degrees centigrade over the current specification, while meeting the rest of the properties referenced in the specification at paragraph 3.4.
