The blood bank area aboard the USNS MERCY (T-AH 19) is to be reconfigured to accomodate six (6) new blood freezers. The old freezers are to be removed and the entire compartment overhauled to improve ventilation, air conditioning, power distribution and overall work space economoics. The adjacent blood gases lab is to be overhauled as well, receiving eight (8) new new blood refrigerators and ergonomic improvements. Various modifications to the ship's electrical systems, plumbing and structure will be carried out in support of this requirement. Project work is planned to occur in several discrete phases to minimize the impact on the ship's operational status. Work will be performed in the San Diego, California area. Procurement will be a Firm Fixed Price. The period of performance for this requirement will begin (tentatively) on 29 September 2000.
