This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. The announcement constitutes the only solicitation: proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation document incorporates all provisions and clauses in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-11. The solicitation number is DE-RQ26-00FTS00673 and is being issued, on July 28, 2000, as a Request for Quotations using Simplified Acquisition Procedures under FAR Part 13. Only written offers received by Aug 18, 2000 in accordance with the solicitation, will receive consideration and responses must convey the ability of the offeror to meet the stated requirements. The documentation shall include descriptive literature containing sufficient technical literature to establish a bonafide capacity of meeting this requirement. FURNACE SPCIFICATIONS Large diameter vertical furnace with a closed bottom end and three, independently controlled heating zones. Typical operating temperature range is 300 deg C to 1000 deg C. Furnace must be able to maintain temperature when a particle-laden gas stream is introduced into a customer-supplied stainless steel closed retort positioned inside the furnace. The retort will be approximately 12 3/4" diameter and 32 " high, with the top several inches extending out of the furnace. The gas stream will not exceed 5 liters per min during operation. Inside heated dimensions are 13 1/2" to 16" diameter and a minimum of 30" length. Outside dimensions are approximately 24" OD x 36" L x 35" D x 42" H, furnace must be able to go through a standard 36" door. Power supply will be of three zone design and consist of three Honeywell UDC 3300 microprocessor based controllers tied in with three independent SCR power controllers (or equivalent controllers and SCR supplies). Thermocouples must be "N" or "K" type and system must include all necessary switches, relays, etc. to allow turn-key operation following power hook-up on delivery. Outside shell shall be heavy gauge steel with block graded high purity fibrous alumina insulation. Heating elements must be Kanthal A1 wire embedded in half round, replaceable, ceramic plate heaters. The furnace MUST be rated for 25 to 28 KW, with 440 volt, 3-phase, 60 Hz service." Posted 07/27/00 (W-SN479296). (0209)
