Jim.Kinslow@Andrews.af.mil. This office is conducting market research
of the commercial marketplace to determine contract types, terms and
conditions, commercial and performance based work statements or other
commercial practices being used to provide the following: a
replacement/upgrade to an automated traffice information system (ATIS).
The system must include a Main Control Unit (MCU)and a Remote Control
Unit (RCU) with identical functions. Recording, monitoring, and
continuous on-line modes must be controllable from either unit. The
system must be capable of storing a 30 second announcement and the
storage device shall not be a disc drive or tape mechanism. The system
must be capable of transmitting a recorded announcement to broadcast
facilities and telephone lines. Announcements shall repeat
automatically at the end of the announcement. A front panel monitor
volume control shall be available. The input power shall be 117 VAC +/-
10%, 50-60 Hz. As a minimum, a removable 6 foot, three-prong, power
cord shall be supplied. Battery back-up shall be provided to sustain
the recorded announcement during brief power outages for periods up to
5 minutes. An internal automatic battery recharging circuitry shall be
incorporated. Rechargeable batteries shall be Nickel-Cadmium type.
Batteries shall be provided and be a commercial off the shelf type. No
Preventive Maintenance shall be required. A _Users Operations and
Maintenance Manual_ shall be provided. The MCU shall be capable of
being mounted in a standard 19 inch rack and capable of connecting a
minimum of 3 each 600 ohm telephone connections. It shall include
exterior terminals for remote connection, be capable of full operation
with battery reserve for up to 5 minutes, have an internal battery
charging capability, a visual/audible alarm when going to battery, and
the capability to remove/install batteries while the system is on and
operating. The RCU shall be capable of all recording, monitoring, and
control functions present on the MCU. It shall also be capable of
remote operation up to a minimum of 1000 feet with standard shielded
cable connections. It shall be capable of being mounted on a panel or
console. Synthesized voice recording ability is preferred. This is not
