The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, MD intends to issue a sole source modification to Contract N00019-00-C-0298 to augment the current Mode 5 growth capability specified in the Navy's Common Identification Friend or Foe Transponder System provided under this contract. The estimated period of performance is 12 months. In accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1 there is only one responsible source and no other supplies and services will satisfy the agency requirements. BAE Systems Aerospace is the sole designer and developer of the Navy's Common Identification Friend or Foe Transponder System and as such is the sole source with the requisite knowledge to fulfill the requirement.
