has developed a Portable Inductive Artillery Fuze Setter (PIAFS) to
support the Crusader artillery program. PIAFS is a hand held unit with
an approximate dimension of 4.5 in. W x 3 in. H x 10.5 in. L and
weighs about 5 lbs. PIAFS is powered by a lithium battery or two C size
batteries. The Army is seeking sources to develop a carrying container
to provide protection for the PIAFS as well as ease of handling for
the soldiers in the field. The PIAFS container shall have approximate
external dimensions of 13 in. L x 8 in. W x (1.7 in. cover and 5.0 in.
base). The container shall be fabricated from low carbon steel,
lightweight metals such as aluminum or other metal/composite hybrid
materials. The container shall also have a carrying handle compatible
with the use of arctic mitten, easy opening/closing latches, an
internal cushion to pack the PIAFS and the batteries, stacking features
and a sealing gasket capable of holding a minimum pressure of 1.5 psi.
The container shall be reasonably rugged to handle normal rough
handling during transportation. All interested firms shall submit their
technical capabilities for the above along with a description of their
concept to include sketches, drawings, specifications, brochures,
samples, and/or test results at no cost to the Government. In addition,
please provide the company s name, address, point of contact with
telephone number and email address, size of business (small/large) and
