The Monongahela National Forest anticipates contracting for the Span Oak and Hawchen Hollow Savannah Development through an Equipment Rental with Operator on the Greenbrier Ranger District in Pocahontas County, West Virginia. The equipment will be used to construct savannahs in areas that have previously been logged. The work is located on ridge top terrain that is generally not steep. The equipment will be used to grade, clear brush and timber, and push/pile slash and debris into brush piles. Stumps from trees, including stumps in excess of 24" diameter, will be grubbed out and placed in brush piles. The equipment needed will be a 590 John Deere Excavator or equivalent for 256 hours and a D6 Cat Dozer or equivalent for 256 hours.
