This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation. Quotations are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation 53SBNB060139 is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) under FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-18. This acquisition is not restricted to small businesses. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code for this acquisition is 3821 and the size standard is 500. The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) intends to obtain a Single-Frequency 5 Watt Laser System in accordance to the specifications identified below. The Contract Line Item Number (CLIN), quantities, and unit of issue are as follows: CLIN 0001, Single-Frequency 5 Watt Laser System with the following specifications: 1) The laser system is to serve as the pump for a femtosecond laser system to be used as a frequency comb; 2) The salient characteristics of the laser are: (a) Single longitudinal mode (single frequency); (b) Minimum 5 Watt continuous output power; (c) Wavelength 532 nanometers; (d) All solid state; and (e) Air cooled. CLIN 0001 shall be delivered within 90 days after receipt of order. Shipment of CLIN 0001 shall be FOB Destination, National Institute of Standards and Technology, 100 Bureau Drive, Building 301, Shipping & Receiving, Gaithersburg, MD, 20899-0001. The provision at FAR 52-212-1, Instructions to Quoters-Commercial Items applies to this acquisition. The Government intends to award CLIN 0001 to one quoter. The award for CLIN 0001 will be made to the responsible, technically acceptable lowest price quote. Quoters shall submit 1) Two copies of their price quotation; 2) Two copies of technical description of the equipment being offered to satisfy CLIN 0001 requirements in sufficient detail to evaluate compliance with the requirements in this solicitation for CLIN 0001 and a copy of the terms and conditions of any proposed warranties; 3) one completed copy of the provision at 52.212-3, Offeror Representations and Certifications-Commercial Items. The clause at 52.212-4, Contract Terms and Conditions-Commercial Items applies to this acquisition.
