70 -- SOLE SOURCE: LSF SUITE 4.0 STANDARD EDITION OPERATING SYSTEM SOFTWARE & SOFTWARE MAINTENANCE SUPPORT TO A CUSTOMIZED HARDWARE CONFIGURATION CONTAINING BOTH SUN AND SGI PLATFORMS. The General Services Administration intends to issue a contract to Platform Computing Corporation under the authority of FAR Parts 12, 13.501(a) _Sole Source Acquisitions_ and 6.303-2 _Content_ through solicitation number 9TER-00-FDH-0010. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulations document (FAR) subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 97-17. This procurement is for the provision and implementation of LSF Suite 4.0 Standard Edition operating system software & software maintenance support to a customized hardware configuration containing both SUN and SGI platforms. The specification is as follows: CLIN 1 -- P/N 40-101, LSF Standard License (Solaris 2.5.1 Trix Aware) (48 ea), CLIN 2 P/N 40-101S, Annual Maintenance, LSF Standard (48 ea).This procurement is for Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center in Monterey, California. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 13.501(a). Only one responsible source and no other supplies can offer the required _Trusted IRIX_ software capability with same batch queuing across the SUN/SGI platform configuration. Other products would pose a compatibility problem with existing systems. A justification for Other than Full and Open Competition has been prepared in support of this acquisition. The provision at FAR 52.212-1, Instructions to Offerors, applies to this acquisition to the extent consistent with a sole source acquisition. Platform Computing Corporation shall include a completed copy of the provision at FAR 52.212-3, Offeror Representations and Certifications-Commercial Items, with its offer. The clause at FAR 52.212-4, Contract terms and Conditions-Commercial Items, applies to this acquisition. The clause at FAR 52.212-5, Contract Terms and Conditions Required to Implement Statutes or Executive Orders-Commercial Items, applies to this acquisition.
