DESCRIPTION OF WORK- This is a combination synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6; as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. The Government intends to award a firm fixed price contract for a total of seven (7) exciter replacements at the Jones Bluff Powerhouse, units 1 through 4 and the Millers Ferry Powerhouse, units 1 through 3, located in Selma and Camden, AL, respectively. The existing rotating exciters will be replaced by new HIGH INITIAL RESPONSE microprocessor (digital) controlled static excitation systems to include design, manufacture, factory test and installation of the new excitation systems. Work also includes removal and disposal of the old exciters. Technical/Management source selection criteria is listed as part of the solicitation package on the web page identified in this announcement. Liquidated Damages have been included in this procurement. Commercial item provisions 52.212-1/2/3/4 and 5 apply. This is an unrestricted acquisition and all responsive, responsible offers will be considered. The SIC is 3621, the size standard of which is a concern who has less than 1000 employees. The solicitation will not be provided in a printed paper format, however, the Government reserves the right to revert to paper medium when it is determined to be in the Government's best interest.
