Division of Basic Sciences of the National Cancer Institute has a
requirement for a contractor to provide continued studies of Old World
Monkeys in support of the intramural research program. This contract
will provide animal facilities adequate to house up to 100 nonhuman
primates, including but not limited to Erythrocebus patas (patas
monkeys) Macaca fascicularis (cynomologous macaques) Macaca mulatta
(rhesus macaques) and Macaca memestrina (pigtail macaques). The animal
facility shall have the capability to hold nonhuman primates, singly
and under Biosafety level 2/level 3 containment, as required by
individual protocols. All nonhuman primates will be provided by the
Government. The contract will start with approximately 30 patas and 70
rhesus monkeys. Caging must be of a size and configuration to meet
current USDA/APHIS standards and requirements for housing nonhuman
primates. The contractor shall be responsible for record keeping,
housing, care, collection of tissues, caesarian sections and necropsies
of the nonhuman primates. The contractor must be able to deliver
perishable fresh monkey tissues, removed during experiments or
necroopsies, to the laboratories of the Division of Basic Sciences,
National Cancer Institute,located on the Bethesda, Maryland campus of
the National Institutes of Health, within one (1)hour of their removal.
This acquisition is a recompetition of contract N02-BC-62601, Bioqual,
Inc. The Government anticipates that one (1) contract will be awarded
on an incrementally funded basis for a period of five (5) years. The
Standard Industrial Classification Code for this acquisition is 8731.
The solicitation is scheduled for electronic release on August 18,
