THERMO KING CORP REFRIGERATION UNITS WARRANTY SERVICE Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the U.S. Army Materiel Command Acquisition Center, Natick Contracting Division, Natick, MA, on behalf of the United States Marine Corps, intends to negotiate and award a contract on a sole source basis with Thermo King Corporation, 314 W. 90th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55420, for an effort to provide the Government with maintenance service on Thermo King Corporation refrigeration units. Currently, the U.S. Army Materiel Command Acquisition Center, Natick Contracting Division, has a contract (DAAD16-99-D-1024) with Thermo King Corporation for the production of the 4,500btu refrigeration units, which are covered by a three (3) year warranty, which includes parts and labor. However, certain costs are not covered, such as mileage, overtime, telephone calls, telegrams, or cost of transportation and/or relocation of equipment or service personnel. Also, such items as engine oil, lubricants, fuses, fuel, filters and filter elements, glow plus, cleaning materials, light bulbs,refrigerant gases, dryers and batteries. This effort will be performed in conjunction with warranty work, and will include all non-covered costs. If another contractor were to perform this effort, it would void the Thermo King Corporation's manufacturer's warranty, which would result in the duplication of costs to the Government. Without this service, the possibility exists that personnel would be left with non-operational units.
