NASA/GRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the Development of Integrated High Current Switching Electronics Power Conditioning System. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GRC intends to purchase the items from Applied Material Technology, Inc. This contractor is uniquely qualified to perform the required work, they have expertise in the field of high thermal conductivity circuit boards (STABLCOR) that uniquely control the coefficient of thermal expansion while dissipating heat. The STABLCOR circuit board is excellent point of departure for evolving design concepts for NASA's high-voltage electrical systems. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on 8/4/00. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
