and Biological Chemical Command's -Natick Soldier Center
(USASBCCOM-NSC) proposes to enter into a sole source requirements type
contract action with Modus Instruments Inc. of Clinton, MA. This
proposed contract action is for commercial items for which the
Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under
the authority of FAR 6.302. Request for a Low Pressure Alarm (LPA)
which is used to monitor interior shelter pressure of a fielded
Chemically Protected Hospital. An abbreviated list of requirements is
as follows: the LPA shall have an operating range of 0.0iwg to 1.0iwg
(inches water gauge). The pressure gauge shall have a low set point and
a high set point that when activated has both a visual and audio alarm.
The alarms shall automatically reset when the pressure returns to a
safe level. The low end setting of the alarm shall be adjustable and
easy to adjust while in the field. The alarm shall have a standard
120Vac-power cable. The LPA shall have an on/off power switch and an
on/off switch for the low-end audio alarm. The LPA shall be lightweight
4lbs 0.5 lbs, with dimensions no great than 9"H x 7"W x 5"D, it shall
be portable, easy to use and install. The LPA housing shall also be its
storage container. The operating temperature of the pressure gauge is
between 32 F to 110 F and a storage temperature of -40 F to 160 F and
an operating humidity range of 20% RH to 90% RH. There is a request for
a bid sample. The Government anticipates this requirement for one basic
year and two (2) option periods, each period lasting 12 months. The
estimated quantity amount requirement for the LPA is as follows: Basic
year, 100 items; First Option year, 224 items; and Second Option year,
84 items; total LPA's for the three (3) years: 408 LPA's. A Performance
Specification with interface drawings are included. No solicitation
currently exits. All responses received within 7 days after publication
