The Government is soliciting firms to quote using FAR part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items (Services) for CULTURAL RESOURCES RECONNAISSANCE SURVEY OF THE BANKS OF THE SHEYENNE RIVER IN NORTH DAKOTA. Work involves using canoes to conduct a reconnaissance survey of the cutbanks of the Sheyenne River from Peterson Coulee in Benson County downstream to its confluence with the Red River of the North, minus the shoreline of Lake Ashtabula. Approximately 892 miles of cutbanks will need to be examined (446 river miles x 2 banks). The purpose of the reconnaissance survey is to document any archeological sites currently eroding out of the banks of the Sheyenne River prior to the construction and operation of a proposed outlet from Devils Lake. Key project personnel must meet the Secretary of the Interior's professional qualification standards for prehistoric archeologists and historic archeologists (ref. 36 CFR Part 61, Appendix A). The Contractor will need to obtain an archeological license from the Archaeology and Historic Preservation Division of the State Historical Society of North Dakota prior to starting fieldwork. Funding to conduct this work is currently pending. In the event funding is not available, this requirement may be cancelled. SIC is 8999; Small Business Size Standard is $5 million.
