of Defense Dependents Schools-Europe (DoDDS-E) is soliciting proposals
on a full and open competitive basis from qualified organizations for
musical instrument repair services. The successful offeror must have
a track record of accomplishments that demonstrates adequate technical
capabilities and successful past performance on similar sized
contracts. It is essential that the technical personnel involved in the
performance of the contract be fully qualified journeyman (band level)
instrument repair technicians capable of repairing all instruments to
manufacturers' specifications. The contract requirements will include
the complete disassembly, replacement of all pads, corks and felts,
replacement or repair of all broken or bent parts, and removal of
dents; the instrument will be oiled, buffed and polished as needed, and
returned to playing condition with proper intonation. DoDDS-E intends
to award a requirements type contract, with a period of performance
from the date of contract award through 15 June 2001, and with fixed
unit prices on the following types and estimated quantities of
instruments: 10 Piccolos, 30 Plateau Flutes, 20 Open Hole Flutes, 5
Oboes, 5 Bassoons, 50 Clarinets, 5 Alto Clarinets, 15 Bass Clarinets,
30 Alto Saxophones, 20 Tenor Saxophones, 5 Baritone Saxophones, 50
Trumpets, 10 French Horns (Single), 5 French Horns (Double), 15
Trombones, and 15 Baritone Horns. The Request for Quotation (RFQ) will
be issued on 17 August 2000 with a response due date of 31 August 2000
and subsequent award, based on written responses to the RFQ, to be made
on/about 8 September 2000. Source selection procedures will include a
questionnaire on technical capabilities and past performance references
to aid in determining the best value to the Government. Requests for a
