Carregal, 617-565-2845 The Social Security Administration, (SSA) requires contract services of BC/BE Internists, Family Practitioners or Generalists in Internal Medicine or Psychiatry to serve as a Regional Medical Advisor, to provide leadership and expertise in the review of medical claims under the Disability program of Titles II and XVI of the Social Security Act. This procurement will be for commercial services prepared in accordance with FAR Part 12 and will be conducted using simplified acquisition procedures in accordance with FAR Part 13. The period of performance shall be from October 1, 2000 or date of award, to March 31, 2001 with provisions for four one year option years. Service involves the review of medical evidence in disability claims. Location of work will be in Government space in the Boston area. Some travel may be required and there is no patient contact. A minimum of 15 hours per week is required per workweek within the 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. time frame. The RMA provides leadership, technical direction and guidance tot he State Disability Determination Services and Federal Medical consultant staff who work as case reviewers at the Disability Quality Branch/SSA, in addition to case development, review and adjudication functions. RMA will assist in identifying psychiaric and medical policy issues and trends and in training disability personnel at both the Federal and State level. Competitive pricing will be solicited and accepted. RFQ is scheduled for release on or about August 17, 2000 with quotes due 30 days thereafter. No telephone requests for the RFQ willbe honored.
