(MSIN K3-04), Richland, WA 99352 68 -- CHEMICAL MODIFICATION OF HIGH SURFACE AREA CERAMICS SOL KAW01
DUE 083100 POC Kathleen A Whelan 509-375-4312 E-MAIL: Kathleen Whelan,
kathy.whelan@pnl.gov. The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory
(PNNL), operated by Battelle Memorial Institute, Pacific Northwest
Division, for the U. S. Department of Energy, is seeking expressions of
interest from commercial sources to functionalize ceramic mesoporous
substrate materials for use in liquid separations. The funtionalization
involves a solvent-based approach in which an organized assembly of
organic molecules containing specific interfacial functional groups is
attached to the surface of the mesopores material. Quantities to be
functionalized may vary from 1 kg to 200 kg. Functionalization may
involve powders 5 to 15 microns in diameter, or sphere-like particles
ranging from 100 to 2000 microns. Anticipated period of performance is
12 to 24 months. The Request for Proposal (RFP) is anticipated to be
issued in the October to November 2000 timeframe. Interested parties
should provide a letter of interest and capabilities statement by
August 31, 2000, to Kathleen Whelan by mail at PNNL, P. O. Box 999,
