SERVICE REQUIREMENTS: Due to the nature of the program for which this service is required, it is impossible to accurately determine in advance or from past experience the number of pounds that the services will be required for. All estimates are for annual requirements: Omaha, NE to Topeka, KS -- 40,000 lbs; Gibbon, NE to Topeka, KS -- 40,000 lbs; Hastings, NE to Topeka, KS -- 12,000 lbs. SPECIFICATIONS: The USDA, APHIS, VS, Lincoln, NE, requires daily pickup and delivery service of parcels containing slaughter cattle blood samples Monday through Friday excluding Federal holidays as follows: 1) Pick up parcels daily at 3458 South 16th Street, Omaha, NE. 2) Pick up parcels daily at Gibbon Packing Co, East Highway 30, Gibbon, NE. 3) Pick up parcels daily at Lovett and Sons Pack, 1009 "M" St, Hastings, NE. All parcels shall be delivered to USDA, APHIS, VS, State-Federal Laboratory, 1947 NW Topeka Boulevard, Suite E, Topeka, KS 66608, no later than 48 hours after pick up. All delivered samples are to be placed in the cooler (refrigerator) located inside the delivery door. Deliveries are to be made Monday through Saturday. Upon delivery of blood samples, empty parcels are to be picked up at the lab and returned to point of origin. The Contractor shall furnish a clean and mechanically sound enclosed-type van or truck equipped to haul packages or containers. The Contractor shall be required to furnish the vehicle with operator, and shall be responsible for all operating and maintenance costs of the vehicle. The drivers and vehicles shall be properly licensed to operate within the states of Nebraska and Kansas. The Contractor shall be authorized/licensed to move parcels in Kansas and Nebraska. The Contractor shall notify Robert D. Hanson within one hour in the event of vehicle failure while transporting parcels. A back-up vehicle must be available to provide service within four (4) hours in the event of equipment failure. The Contractor shall receipt for all parcels picked up, such as bills of lading, airbills, packing lists, etc. The Contractor shall maintain a register of all parcels picked up and delivered, and obtain the signature of the destination agent.
