Z -- MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF WOLF MOUNTAIN LOOKOUT SOL 7-2000-R23 DUE 090700 POC Cecilia Rogers, Procurement Technician, 541/416-6534 or Fax 541/416-6661 This solicitation requires maintenance and repair of Wolf Mountain Lookout, a 100 foot tall, heavy timber tower topped with a 14 foot square cab; replace the cab's shingle roof with 270 sq of metal roofing, repair or replace 17 horizontal or diagonal bracing members, replace the cab's guard rail, and replace the lightning protection system. The existing guardrail around the cab (30" high) will be removed and replaced with new railing (42" high). Split structural elements will be "stitched" or replaced depending on the extent of the damage. Structural elements are attached to the tower using bolts and split ring connectors. The lightening protection system includes 380 feet of trenching in thin soils over rock, 1150 feet of copper conductors, 64 bolted connectors, and 4 exothermically welded connections. All aspects of the work will comply with Oregon OSHA's Fall Protection Requirements for the Construction Industry, OAR 437, Subdivision M. This includes a detailed fall protection plan prepared by a qualified person, training, supervision and personnel protection equipment. Project area is on the Paulina Ranger District, of the Ochoco National Forest. Total distance from Prineville, Oregon is 82 miles. Alternate Payment Protection is required.
