As part of a data center consolidation effort, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), intends to procure the following new and refurbished Bull HN Information Systems' equipment from the sole-source, licensed provider of these products to the Federal Government, Wang Government Services, Inc. (WANG). The equipment specified is required in order to function with VBA's existing Benefits Delivery Network (BDN) system. The new equipment items are one each of: Bull HN DPS 9000/742-2 Jupiter CPU Complex (1024MB Main Memory, 2 CPU, 2 Input/Output System Processors, 48 Channels) and Mainway 2000 Network Processor Model DCPRO28-0000 which provides FCP/FDDI connectivity to and IBM mainframe processor and DPS 9000/742. The refurbished items are (1) Datanet Front-end processors, six each of Model DCP7540A (Refurbished datanet 7500s with a minimum of 54 DCF7507 V24 HDLC lines) and 2 each of Model DCU8130 (Refurbished datanet 8/30 with a minimum of 24 RS232 HDLC Sync channels, 18 multi-line comm-16 boards, extended performance options and additional 2MB memory); (2) One each of LPM Printer, Model PRU 1203 (Refurbished 1200 Line per minute printer) and (3) One each of Magnetic round reel tape system, Model MTS 8208 (Refurbished tape controller and drives). Contractors must provide a certification document from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) that any refurbished equipment bid is certified for maintenance by the OEM and has the Bull certified firmware level to run the Bull HN DNS V4 and DNS 300 datanet software. All equipment proposed will be required to pass a 30 day acceptance and test period by VBA. Contractors that can guarantee delivery within eight weeks for any of the refurbished equipment with required Bull certification shall respond directly to the contracting officer no later than 2:00 p.m. eastern standard time, August 18, 2000.
