The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to solicit a quotation for existing commercial off-the-shelf software licenses on a sole source basis from SNOWMED International for licenses for muliaxial controlled terminology which defines code standards in a variety of clinical areas or codes axes. It also identifies procedures and test results. It is enabling technology which allows gathering of data and researchers and providers to share common understanding of health data across sites of care and computer systems. CAP is sole owner of SNOWMED nomenclature which is the standard used by CDC in the electronic laboratory based reporting. These licenses shall be effective for a 12 month period from date of award. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation. Simplified Acquisition Procedures will be utilized and an oral quotation will be solicited on or about 08/21/2000. Other than Full and Open Competition is authorized pursuant to 41 U.S.C 2253(C)(1). Qualified vendors have 14 days from date of this synopsis to submit capability statements delineating their ability to provide this product. Such qualifications will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a full and open competition basis. No solicitation exists.
