Moore, 703-602-7714 X 292 J- USS IWO JIMA (LHD 7) FY01/02 Post Delivery Period FOA, RAV & PSA. This is a market survey/informational notification and is not a formal RFP synopsis. The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA Code 0285) is planning to conduct a best-value procurement for the following anticipated requirement, place of performance restricted to the Norfolk homeport area. The contractor shall perform advance planning and perform repairs, alterations, and maintenance on USS IWO JIMA (LHD 7) from time-to-time during the ship's post delivery period, which is estimated to be April 2001 to July 2002. Three scheduled availabilities will be conducted: FY01 FOA (est. dates 7/16/01-8/17/01) at NOB Norfolk; FY02 RAV (est. dates 1/21/02 -- 2/8/02) at NOB Norfolk, and FY02 PSA (est. dates 4/01/02-6/30/02) at the contractor's Norfolk homeport area facility. Emergent and non-scheduled availabilities work will also be conducted, as required. Concurrently with this effort, third parties, such as Navy AIT's and the shipbuilder, will also be performing work, so an important requirement exists for the contractor to coordinate and control its work with these third parties. Contractor must possess, or prove access to, a facility (piers, cranes, services, etc) suitable for conducting the PSA (and any emergent work, if required) on an LHD 7 size/type of vessel. An RFP is tentatively scheduled for issuance in September 2000, with a tentative planned award date of February 2000 of a CPAF type contract. For market survey purposes, interested, qualified contractors are requested to notify NAVSEA of their interest and availability to perform this requirement prior to 31 August 2000.
