INFORMATION ONLY. The US Army CECOM RDEC is seeking sources and
information for a Small Footprint L1/L2 GPS Antenna. This component
will be utilized as part of a combined assortment of products that
represent a wearable computing system for a host of applications, to
include civilian, military and professional uses. This component would
be an integral part of the user's ability to operate the system in a
safe, unobtrusive and mobile environment. Mobile -- can be carried,
worn, and/or portably stored on an individual Durable -- has or can be
protected from harsh environments Lightweight -- minimal physical
burden on an individual, easy to carry and manipulate Energy efficient
-- uses low power, contains or can draw from low power sources
Survivable -- is operable in varied weather, climate and geographic
conditions As applicable, respondents should identify the performance
characteristics of their product(s) that addresses the above, to
include physical/electrical interface(s), physical dimensions and
software compatibility. Availability of product, and examples of its
use are also requested. Desired performance characteristics of the
component shall consist of all weather, day and night operation. This
component should be an integral part of a system that enhances one or
more performance characteristics as applied toward a wearable computing
set of hardware and its applications. REQUIREMENTS: The small footprint
L1/L2 GPS antenna serves as an active external antenna for an embedded
PPS SAASM GPS receiver. The antenna must be of a form factor that
facilitates mounting on an individual's shoulder. The antenna can
consist of one or more elements and self-contained ground plane, RF
filtering, and amplification as needed. The antenna should include an
appropriate enclosure and coaxial cable interface. The antenna, at a
minimum, shall provide reception at or above 10 degrees elevation angle
where 0 degrees is the horizon. Characteristics: Size < 2.5 inch
diameter footprint (or equivalent area) DC input voltage 2.5 to 5.5 VDC
Antenna load current 50 mV peak-to-peak Operating BW 1575.42 +/- 10.23
MHz 1227.60 +/- 10.23 MHz Output impedance 50 ohms Output VSWR 2:1
