USDA, Forest Service, Alaska Region intends to contract for
fabrication and installation of a comprehensive exhibitory package for
the Begich, Boggs Visitor Center (BBVC). The work to be performed
includes, but is not limited to, removal of existing exhibitory and
associated mechanical, electrical, audio-visual and glazing systems.
The contractor shall provide all professional services, materials,
equipment, travel, facilities and otherwise do all things necessary to
construct and install, according to the Design Contractor's plans and
specifications all exhibitory and improvements at BBVC. BBVC is
located in the Portage Valley, 50 miles southeast of Anchorage, AK.
Interested parties shall mail a request to receive the RFQ package to
Tamara Lanier, USDA Forest Service, Alaska Region, P.O. Box 21628,
Juneau, AK 99802-1628. The request shall be on company letterhead and
include a point of contact, address, phone, e-mail and business size.
A check for $120 made out to USDA Forest Service is required to arrive
with the RFQ request in order to receive the RFQ package. If Fed-Ex
delivery of the RFQ package is desired provide company Fed-Ex number
with the request. The RFP package will include a CD-ROM containing
drawings and specifications in Acrobat format. A pre-proposal and site
visit conference is scheduled for August 29, 2000. The conference will
begin at 10 am ADT. Please e-mail Kent Kohlhase, COR at
kkohlhase@fs.fea.us with the name and address of your company and the
individuals, with their phone numbers/e-mail, who will be attending by
COB August 25, 2000. The purpose of the conference will be to give
contractors the opportunity to inspect the facility and work conditions
and realize the scope of effort and level of skills required for the
project. All questions regarding the RFQ package shall be submitted
electronically to Tamara Lanier, Contracting Officer at
tamaralanier@fs.fed.us by COB August 25, 2000. Received questions will
be answered at the pre-proposal/site visit conference. The
estimatedstart work date is October 2, 2000. The project must be
complete May 14, 2001. Following a technical and price evaluation a
supply contract will be awarded to the contractor providing the "best
value" to the Government. The standard industrial classification code
is 9999. The reference number for this project is RFQ-R10-00-01. The
